Edmonton Spring Classic

On Friday I was invited to the first ever Edmonton Spring Classic fashion show at The Treasury Vodka Bar downtown which was the perfect venue for a glamorous event like this. But this was no ordinary fashion show, oh no, there was no runway, no stoic or intimidating models strutting down the catwalk and no backstage either. Instead, eight of Edmonton's hottest designers and their friendly models wearing their creations interacted and mingled with the crowd, allowing the audience to chat with them in an intimate setting and ask questions about their designs. What also made this fashion show unique was that the designers were all competing for $1000.00 in prize money and it was up to the audience to choose the winner by casting a vote at the end of the night. How cool is that?? Topped off with a red carpet, a Live DJ, a Live Photo Shoot and delicious gourmet homemade sweets from Sweetsoul Desserts the Edmonton Spring Classic was a successful, enjoyable and extremely fun night that I hope will turn into an annual event.

Before the show began I was excited to meet some other local fashion bloggers:

After commenting on and admiring each others blogs for the past year I finally got to meet the beautiful and stylish Janis from Dress Me Dearly who is one of the nicest and sweetest people I've ever met.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Vickie from ADVENTURES IN FASHION! and her lovely husband.

Here are some beautiful designs by Jessilyn Steinwand of Eve and Enoch. That's her on the left!

This dress was created by the multi-talented Cherie Howard

Model Alexandra, Designer Heather Emily Murray and model Lauren strike a pose.
Congratulations to Heather who placed second in the design competition!

Designer Gabriela Cruz with one of her beautifully draped creations.
I fell in love with the fabric of this dress!

This photo was taken during the live photo shoot by photographer Mariusz Sikorski.
This dress, named the Harlequin Starlet was created by Alisha Schick of Suka Clothing
She paired it with the perfect pair of shoes!

Corinna Chow (Parasol) who placed third, made this gorgeous light pink strapless dress for the competition

Accomplished and talented local fashion designer Kelly Madden with her model.
Kelly made the dress she's wearing as well.

First place winner Nomin Gatumur of Handcuffs Required with her stunning and elegant design. Look at that skirt! I die!

Some stylish Edmontonians. Sarah Cameron (center), owner of Fluid Hair, was one of the sponsors of the event.

How cute are these two? I just had to take their picture!

My friend (and hot date) Danna and I. We had so much fun at the event and were somewhat surprised at how warm and welcoming Edmonton's fashion community is. All the designers were so supportive of one another, it was really great to see. And who knew Edmonton had such talent??? Thanks goes out to Wade Tompkins of Tkins Productions for executing such a successful event.

I hope you all had a great weekend!
