Living in Sin Friday!

 photo from teamsugar

Happy Friday!!!

So. After four years together D. and I have decided to take The Next Step. We are shackin' up and will be "living in sin" since we're not married. (I apologize now to both of my Catholic Grandmothers but I'm thankfully not their first naughty grandchild who has lived with a boyfriend or girlfriend before marriage. I mean this is the 21st Century, right???) I'm renting out my condo and will be moving into D.'s house next month which is, like, really soon! I haven't even started packing yet. However, since he doesn't have a huge closet I have gone through my two closets (proof  that I have way too many clothes!) to pick out the clothes I haven't worn in awhile to give to charity. Let me tell you, this is more difficult than it sounds. I feel like Meryl Streep in "Sophie's Choice" who has to decide which child she has to leave behind and which child she will take with her. But it's just something I gotta do.

I also have to leave my bedroom set I've had since I was eight years old behind for my tenant and abandon my lovely light pink walls, my pretty, pastel-colored bathroom and my glamour photos of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn in my living room since I told D. he had to get rid of his giant wolf picture circa 1994 in his bedroom. It's only fair right? We're compromising ; ). Luckily I get to take my guest bedroom furniture with me to use in the main bedroom. I wasn't sure this was gonna happen because he had mentioned his distaste for pine furniture a couple of times in the past:

Me: "What don't you like about pine???"
Him: "It kind of scares me. It's creepy."
Me: "You're creepy."

How can someone be scared of pine furniture???? It's like being scared of ceiling tiles! (I hope he's not reading this and if he is I LOVE YOU BABE! You're the BEST!!!) Thankfully he overcame his fear really quickly. So anyways, this weekend I'll be going through my cupboards and throwing out any extra sh*t I don't use or need and will be moving some of my stuff over to D.'s house. Then the actual Big Move will take place in a couple of weeks. He basically has given me free reign on decorating YAY! (with the exception of pink because he "can't handle it") but I'm not sure yet how I'm going to combine both of our styles together and I don't want him to feel like I'm taking over his home completely. I want to make it our home. If anyone has any suggestions on this topic please let me know. And if anyone has any tips on living with a boyfriend please send those my way, too! This will be a first for me. Thanks : ) Have a great weekend everyone! And to the Canadians who have Monday off have a great LONG weekend!!!

Really???

Here's Mischa "Hot Mess" Barton in a red and white Miu Miu dress on Wednesday in London. I'm not particularly a fan of it. I don't care that it's Miu Miu either, I just don't think it's very flattering on her. Her facial expression and icky hair color certainly don't do the frock any justice! What do you think?

P.S. Doesn't the chick in the background look a little bit like Lindsay Lohan? She escaped from jail!! ; )

blouse - Vintage (as in I bought it ten years ago and can't remember where from)
skirt - Gap
heels - Zara
ring - Aldo
bracelet - H & M

This is an outfit I would wear to work. Except with a MUCH longer skirt! I'm wearing minimal jewelry because I don't wear a whole lot when I'm at the office. The teal ring was a gift from my friend Kristin. I have really skinny fingers so I was surprised that it only fit my pinkie! The little munchkin who is pulling me away in the third pic is my nephew who wanted me to play soccer with him. I did but only after I ditched the heels ; ) I hope you're having a great day wherever you may be...

Lake Placid, Here We Come!

Classic Johnny: Dancing to his own beatwhile watching the other skaters practicetheir group numbers in Sun Valley.Very special thanks to Facebook fanNicole Davis for this exclusive!
So a while back I wrote a blog entry called "Just Dance," which is essentially one of the many things Johnny inspires me to do--just dance my own dance, to my own music, my own way, in my beloved overalls, with joy

Weekend Fun

This past weekend I took a drive by myself out to my brother's place for a visit. He lives on a beautiful ranch not too far outside the city where I live. I know this post isn't fashion/beauty/entertainment - related but I thought I'd share something different with my readers : ). Here are some pics from last Sunday...

There are six horses altogether(including a miniature one that my nephew rides) but a few of them were M.I.A.

Please excuse my un-washed hair and bare face. Sundays are my lazy days ; )

Canola Field

Kitty

Peanut is on the left, Rudder is lying down.

I was surrounded by hundreds of insects while taking these pics and of course did NOT mange to escape unscathed. I counted 7 mosquito bites.

We get amazing sunsets in the summer!

Ok I had to post this pic. What's in this bag you ask? My sister-in-law's wedding dress! Has anyone heard of Store Smart Bags? Maybe I've been living under a rock but I hadn't up until a few days ago. The bag acts like a vacuum and sucks your clothes in so you have more room for storage. What does that mean? There's room for even MORE clothes! Brilliant? I think so.

My goofy nephew

This is what happens when you turn your back on a two-year-old for 2 seconds.

Eat, Pray, Love

photos from filmofilia and imdb

So in 18 days, on Friday, August 13th the movie I've been looking forward to seeing the most this summer, "Eat, Pray, Love" will open in theaters nationwide. I absolutely loved the book by Elizabeth Gilbert and am so excited to see the film version! So to celebrate the upcoming opening of the movie I thought I'd post some pictures from the set and ask you this: In the movie Julia Roberts travels to Italy, Indonesia and India for self-discovery and Eats, Prays, and Loves. I want to know what you would do if you traveled to those countries. You must use verbs. For example, I'd want to Explore, Shop and Drink ; )~  Just kidding on the last part. Well, kinda. You get my drift! Can't wait to read your answers ; ) I hope you all had a great weekend!

Next Stop: Lake Placid!

Obligatory Sun Valley 2010sleeveless-shirt-and-black-meggings photo #1 ...

Wow. By all accounts, Sun Valley was a smashing success! The arena was sold out, rehearsal footage and pics were incredible, and both of Johnny's performances were huge crowd-pleasers (of course). And Johnny stayed afterward until every last fan received an autograph or photo or both, because he's just

Baby Shower

Warning: If you don't like babies or cute things than this post is not for you! (And there's something wrong with you.) Just kidding! But yes, this post is all about CUTE. In my last post I talked about throwing a double-whammy baby shower for two of my friends. Here are some pics from the party : )

The girls. (Missing: Jess.) We all used to dance together in the same dance group and have known each other for about 20 years or more. We've traveled the world together, dancing in London, Paris, Euro Disney, Las Vegas (to name a few) and we're all still very close with one another and have shared so many memories together, celebrating every big milestone in our lives. We've experienced a lot of "firsts" together: first crush, first boyfriend, first heartbreak, first cigarette puff when we were teenagers, first alcoholic drink (no comment lol), first graduation, first plane ride, first dance injury, first wardrobe malfunction on stage, first (and hopefully only!) marriage, first baby....the list goes on. These ladies know me best and mean so much me. I love them all dearly. And now there are 6 babies among us!

Of course I had to end with a cheesy picture of us. Goofy pics have been a tradition since we were in elementary school ; )

Oh, and for you fashionistas out there who are interested: I'm wearing a dress from the H & M Garden Collection.

Have a great weekend!

Behind the Scenes at Last Year's Sun Valley Show!

Kittens/Angels are descending on Sun Valley even as we speak, some having arrived yesterday, more coming in today, and all beyond excited to see Johnny perform Heartbroken and Poker Face (in the new costume)! Word is that rink management has promised the rink will be open tomorrow during rehearsals for the public to take pics and vids, which should of course be posted immediately to Twitter and

Oh BTW Just One More Thing ...

Ahhhhhhhhh ...

I am still basking in the glory that is Johnny's 2010 USFSA Readers' Choice Figure Skater of the Year Award (Michelle Kwan Trophy)!

(I like giving the entire award name. It rolls off the tongue so beautifully, and lands so smoothly and perfectly, like Johnny's Fallen Angel jump combo, in the warm happy smugness that is mine today.)

Mmmmmmm ... The bliss of poetic justice, too

Top - Alfred Sung (from Zellers)
Pants - Cassis
Shoes - Mark Fisher "Carnie" Wedges (from Winners)
Bag - Army & Navy
Pendant - Aldo
Bracelets - Mexico

These pictures were taken yesterday afternoon after work. I looooove the pants because they're so comfortable and chic but also appropriate for the office. And I can dress them up or down depending on where I'm going or what kind of mood I'm in : )  Last night Jenessa and I prepared for a double-whammy baby shower we're throwing tonight for our two friends that had their wee ones just a few days apart. It seems that so many of my girlfriends are either pregnant, just had their babies or are trying to get pregnant! Something must be in the water. Both Jeness and I have a few more years to go before we even start thinking about popping out little ankle-biters. Below is a picture of us getting the party favors ready. And yes, that's a "cake" made out of diapers in the background! More pics from the shower to come : ).

I love irony.

I love that the God of my heart loves irony too.

I love that despite the USFSA's desperately determined efforts to ignore, bury, and distance themselves from Johnny Weir--their own three-time National Champion and two-time Olympian; despite the fact

I Choose SPF 100

So I've preached before about how important it is to wear sunblock and I just want to reiterate why.....Because you don't want to look like this, dammit!

Do I have you all running out to the store to pick up some SPF 50? Good! My friend and I were talking the other day about how lucky we are to be educated about the effects of sun damage to our skin and how we're being smart about wearing sunscreen and preventing damage unlike our mothers who, years ago, tanned using baby oil - literally frying themselves in 30 degree weather and causing not only major sun damage but wrinkles a plenty. To avoid burning your skin, being diagnosed with melanoma (aka skin cancer), second-degree burns, peeling, skin lesions, wrinkles and premature aging (just to name a few) I recommend wearing sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 or higher instead of risking looking like a bright deep-fried tomato with gnarly tan lines after being in the sun for a couple of hours. Most of the sun damage you do to your skin cannot be undone! So doesn't it make more sense to protect your skin NOW, especially while you're younger? Your skin will thank you later on.

I want to know: how many of my readers wear sunblock? What type of sunscreen do you use? Here are my picks.
