Bodyline Fitness & Gym Launches First-Of-Its-Kind Wellness Center in Lagos Lagos|Nigeria, Oct 27 2013

The Lagos launch of Bodyline Fitness and Gym on Saturday October 26 attracted some of the most influential men and women in the city, with many guests commending the owners for giving Lagos a truly world class wellness centre.

The Ikoyi-based health lifestyle and fitness centre has been described by pundits as one of the best and biggest in West Africa, with facilities including a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, aerobics studio, spinning room, spa services, yoga and pilates room among others.

Superstar Darey Art Alade hosted the exclusive launch event while guests present included Segun Awolowo, Bassey Albert, Commissioner for Finance Akwa Ibom State Toni Kan, Ireti Doyle, Abisoye Fagade, Howie T, Zaina, His Royal Highness Saw Owa  the Owa Lobbo of Obbo-Ayegunle, and many others.

Speaking at the event, Ladi Okunneye, Managing Director 03B Networks Ltd. noted the top-notch facilities available at the center, confirming ‘there’s no where like this currently in Lagos.’

During the official opening, the Managing Director, Bodyline Fitness & Gym, Mr. Bankole Opashi reiterated the importance of the Lagos outlet to the Bodyline brand. “Launching in Lagos was very important for us as we knew that Lagosians needed these services especially given the hectic nature of the city.” He added that keeping fit no longer has to be boring because adding fun to the concept of healthy living is what has sustained the brand for the past seven years in Abuja.”

Mr. Opashi also took guests round the world-class stylish facilities for a first hand experience of the available services whilst guests were treated to their choice of free services ranging from deep tissue massages available at the spa to free hair, manicure and pedicure services at the beauty salon.

Bodyline Fitness & Gym began operations in Abuja on October 27, 2006 though the Lagos rollout will see the brand launch in major cities across Nigeria.

MARY J. BLIGE SET TO HIT LAGOS ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2013

Lagos, Nigeria come Friday, September 27, 2013 at the expansive hall of the Eko Hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos would be playing host to the Queen of Nu Soul in the person of Singer/Songwriter, sometimes rapper, record producer & actress, the one and only Mary J. Blige. 

The American entertainer would be headlining an all female concert on that date. The show itself is tagged as ''Sisters with Soul'' and set to feature on the night on the same stage as the award winning American are the following- the sonorously blessed  Seyi Shay of the 'Irawo' fame, from the EME stable would come their first lady in the person of Niyiola, also set to perform are Jodie, Zaina, Emma Nyra, Ms. Jaie, petite dynamite Nikki Laoye, Eva, the gorgeous Lola Rae & last but not the least DJ Cuppy who would be manning the wheel of steel, controlling proceedings. 

The show is a Kilimanjaro Entertainment production and major support is coming from one of Nigeria's top communication's giants Etisalat. 

Kilimanjaro Entertainment where Femi Akande is the head honcho are known very well in the entertainment sector for always packaging fantastic concerts & music show. They have brought in the likes of Joe, Anita Baker, Chris Brown and several others International music stars to very successful shows in Nigeria over the years. 

The Friday, September 27, 2013 show is set to start at 8 pm and tickets have been pegged at #15,000 & #25,000.

The 42 years old American singer has been rocking the airwaves with hits after hits since 1992 till date. So she has a fantastic repertoire of popular jams that her Nigerian fans would love.

ADIEU! DR. OLUSEGUN KOKUMO AGAGU. MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE

 
Top Ondo State PDP Stalwart & former Governor of Ondo State & former Minister of Aviation, Dr. Olusegun Kokumo Agagu is dead. The Petroleum Geologist reportedly slumped last night without any prior sign of illness and later gave up the ghost. He was aged 65 years old, having been born on February 16, 1948. 


He reportedly died at his Lagos residence at about 6 pm yesterday, Friday, September 13, 2013 after only just returning from his vacation to America about 24 hours before his sudden death.

May his jolly soul rest in peace. Encomiums have started pouring in from friends & others since the confirmation of his death. 

One of such encomium's is that from his fellow former Governor; Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who reportedly said- ''Agagu was a sophisticated politician. He loved his people and Ondo people dearly. He rarely gets angry and hated violence. May he find peace with his maker''.

Many of the Nigerian Stars & Celebs all converged last night at the prestigious Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi to show their support for an advocacy the whole world should support. It's none other than the fight against HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy & the need for sexual responsibility. 


The advocacy that is being championed by MTV Staying alive foundation with the very active collaboration of MTV Base and with the full support of NACA (National Agency for the Control of Aids), which is a Federal Government agency set up to help to reduce the spread of the epidemic and not forgetting the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. 

According to statistics, Nigeria has the 2nd highest number of those suffering from HIV/AIDS in the world after South Africa. The idea majorly is to use the medium of Shuga, the award winning series, that has aired the past 2 seasons in Kenya to pass the message across to the youths.

The event which held at the WheatBaker Hotel on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 had top bosses in the entertainment and health sectors like Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, Georgia Arnold, Executive Director, MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Emmanuel Alhassan, Director, Resource Mobilisation for the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Mairo Mandara, Nigeria Country Representative, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a and Dr Okey Nwanyanwu, CDC Country Director, Nigeria among many others.

Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, VIMN Africa expressed his excitement on the launch of the series in Nigeria, “MTV Base is proud and excited to bring Shuga to Nigeria for the first time.  We are delighted that this award-winning series and multimedia campaign will be using its muscle to shine a light on important public health issues affecting youth, and promoting meaningful behaviour change while leveraging Nigerian creativity and talent.”

Guests at the launch include CEO Beat FM, Deji Awokoya, Olisa Adibua, Chris Attoh, Gbenro Ajibade, IllBliss, Uti Nwachukwu, Alex Ekubo, Beverly Naya, Oreka Goddis, Tosyn Bucknor, Toke Makinwa, Jumai Shaba among others.

Executive Director, MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Georgia Arnold also spoke on the initiative behind the launch, “We aim to strike a chord with young Nigerians and provoke a significant shift in their attitudes and behaviour towards sexual health and associated public health issues.  Combining these messages with stylish production, poignant storylines, believable characters and world class acting allows Shuga to sweeten the pill and make an impact where other campaigns may have failed to resonate in the past.”

“Bringing Shuga to Nigeria is a very smart move as youths in Nigeria need to take the importance of sexual health seriously and using this medium to push this message as well as using Nigerian acts to create real life situations is a smart move.”Nollywood actor, Beverly Naya said at the event.

Emmanuel Alhassan, Director, NACA commented, ”The Nigerian government is delighted to support this important youth education initiative which complements our on-going education projects at all levels of society.  Shuga'ssubtle messaging will not only ensure greater understanding of HIV prevention and treatment measures among young people but communicate important messages about tolerance and acceptance".

“Efforts such as Shuga that seek to expand knowledge about HIV among young people are critical to helping us achieve an AIDS-free generation. Raising awareness is key to keeping this and future generations healthy and able to lead productive lives,” commented Shirley A. Dady, PEPFAR Country Coordinator, Nigeria.

Fusing public health messaging with gripping storylines, Shuga is part of a powerful 360-degree mass media campaign designed to raise awareness about HIV prevention and teen pregnancy in Nigeria, after research highlighted widespread ignorance about or indifference to contraception, poor access to contraceptives, a significantly high incidence of mother-to-child HIV transmission, and gender-based violence in the region.

The series will premiere on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322), Nigerian terrestrial broadcasters and other MTV networks and third party broadcasters around the world from World AIDS Day (1 December 2013).  Other elements of the Shuga campaign will include a radio drama series, a peer educator programme, a comic book in Hausa and English, a mobile information service, social media and a range of digital platforms.
