Arizonahhhh

Our private pool in Phoenix

My little backyard friend-without-a-tail

I turned this H & M skirt into a dress. It kept me cool in the 35 degree weather!
I think some people thought I was pregnant though. I was getting funny looks at Walmart.

Beautiful Sedona

 Gorgeous, right?

I know this photo is on the verge of being cheesy (or it's already there) but I swear we didn't plan this pose, this was the only decent photo of the two of us!

That's my mom! This dress is from Charlotte Russe. I got it in Vegas a couple of years ago.

We climbed a hill in Sedona and this was our view - Nicolas Cage's vacation home.
Do you see his hair piece floating in the pool? Look closely. I kid, I kid!

At the top of the hill was this absolutely beautiful and peaceful church. All churches are peaceful but this one was extra calming. Can you imagine coming here every Sunday? Look at that breathtaking view! Even an atheist would enjoy a service here!

Yup, this veggie quesadilla was as good as it looks.
We ate mostly Mexican food while we were in the states because it's so good down there!

Getting ready to go to the airport. Wish I could have stayed longer....
My top is from Target which is one of my new favorite stores! I LOVED IT!

I had a wonderful time in Arizona. The weather was beautiful - 32-38 degrees Canadian every day - so we spent a lot of time relaxing and cooling off by the pool. The people were extremely friendly, the views outstanding, the food was delicious and the shopping unreal! I can't wait to show you my finds in my upcoming posts!

I hope you all had a great week!

Johnny is facing one of the toughest decisions of his career,

he must tell USFS whether or not he wants

a Grand Prix assignment this fall.

According to Phil Hersh of the Chicago Tribune,

Johnny "has yet to make such a request."

Happy Birthday

Just wanted to wish my sweet little nephew Kayden a Happy 3rd Birthday! This adorable munchkin has brought so much joy and happiness into my life, I just love him so much! It's indescribable what I felt when I saw him for the first time at the hospital and held him in my arms when he was just an hour old. Right then and there I knew my life had changed forever and felt so lucky to be his Auntie "Rie." I'm sad I won't be seeing him on his special day (because I'm on vacation right now) but I'll be bringing him back some cool gifts : ). I love you, little buddy! You're the best!

I hope you're all having a great week!

I'm Leaving

I don't think she wants me to go

I haven't had a real vacation (as in more than three days out of town) since February 2010 so I'm overdue for a holiday. I am beyond excited to be going to Phoenix, Arizona Saturday for a week with D. and my family! In addition to all the shopping I'll be doing (and there will be LOTS of it because I hear Phoenix has some amazing outlet stores) I plan on doing some sightseeing, going to a national baseball game, relaxing by the pool and eating out at different restaurants. And did I say shopping???

I can't tell you how excited I am to see these! I love palm trees more than I love H & M.

Ok so I have a silly confession to make. Apparently, according to some religions, the world is going to end this Saturday at 6 p.m. because it's Judgment Day and at 6 o'clock I'll be in an airplane which kind of freaks me out! I don't really believe in this stuff and think it's ridiculous but I would be lying if I told you I haven't thought about it. But hopefully everyone will be fine and God will let us live a little longer...so I can make it to those outlet stores ; ).

I won't be blogging while I'm away because I don't think I'll have internet access but I have two scheduled posts for next week so check back soon! Have a great weekend! If we all make it through! Just kidding. Kinda.

Well, I've put this off for as long as I can. But like all good things, the seemingly endless supply of Ice Dreams picspam must now come to an end with this last series of shots from the show's finale.

Beauty and the Pleats at LUX

blouse - Etzio, trousers - Cassis, wedges - Marc Fisher (from Winners), bag and bracelet - H & M

Last Sunday I was invited to attend “Beauty and the Pleats,” a silent auction fundraiser benefiting Edmonton’s Suit Yourself at LUX Beauty Boutique and this is what I wore. These trousers are the most comfortable pair of pants I own. I've waited all winter to be able to wear them again!

Suit Yourself is a local charitable organization that collects quality clothing and accessories through donations and distributes them to low-income, disadvantaged women who are seeking employment and/or entering the workforce. When I first heard about the event I thought, “Wow, what a great idea!” and I was so happy to attend and support the community. The afternoon was filled with fun make-up demo’s and mini-seminars, yummy cupcakes from Crave, mimosa’s and bellini’s (mmmm bellini’s), swag bags and of course an amazing silent auction. People could bid on gift baskets full of fabulous cosmetics and the hottest skincare and hair care products that LUX carries in their store. (Scroll down to see what I took home with me!) Also, if you brought in any used toiletries you received $10.00 worth of LUX bucks!

This is inside the store. I was in beauty HEAVEN!

Many of the products you thought you had to buy online if you live in Canada you can actually buy at LUX.

LUX beauties Sarah Lorentz and owner Jennifer Grimm in the courtyard of the silent auction held outside. It was a wee bit windy!

Swag bags and prizes for the guests!

These two baskets are what I walked out with. (Note: some of the samples you see in the boxes are what I received in my Swag bag, I wanted to include them in the picture.) I'm not sure I should tell you how much I bid to win all this deliciousness but I will say it was under $120.00 total. Can you believe that??

Close up

Closeup #2. I went for this gift basket because of the "Seriously Dark Circles" cream that was in it ; ) I'm praying it works so I won't look like the grim reaper who has to wear pounds of concealer on her face everyday. I really can't believe all of the amazing products I got. I was like a little kid on Christmas morning looking at all of this stuff! Needless to say I had a great time at Beauty and the Pleats and was so happy to hear that $3000.00 was raised for Suit Yourself in just a few hours : ).

Stanley Carroll Pop-Up at Shag Hair Studio and My Hair Before & After

On Friday night D. and I headed downtown to Shag Hair Studio where renowned and beloved Edmonton clothing designer Stanley Carroll staged a pop up shop of his most recent men and women's pieces including ready-to-wear and one of a kind items.

Shag was the perfect venue for the temporary shop with it's modern design and urban vibe. I LOVE the brick walls!

Stanley Carroll makes such original and unique clothing. And they happen to be comfortable as well! I tried on a funky tank top I really wanted to take home with me (not the one in this picture) but unfortunately it was too short for my torso.

Oh look,  it's cutie patootie Andrew with one of Carroll's coveted menswear creations : ).
Check out his stylish new ankle moccasins he bought at Zara 5th Avenue on a recent trip to New York!

Both Andrew and I were admiring this dress with it's beautiful lines and draping.

The lovely Kelly, owner and hairstylist of Shag (who happens to be a good friend of mine) and the talented Stanley Carroll. Such a nice man! I'm looking forward to seeing his newest collection at Western Canada Fashion Week in the fall. To learn more about him and his designs you can visit his website.

Ok, so on Friday I told you that I was getting my hair cut and colored because it had become so damaged that it looked like a rat's nest/Cameron Diaz's hair in "Being John Malkovich" and I got the impression from the comments that some of you didn't really believe me. So, I took a before and after pic and now I can say I TOLD YOU SO! I have naturally curly hair (that I hate and straighten almost every day) and sometimes when I wake up it looks like the photo on the left. Scary, hey? I'm surprised D. hasn't screamed and/or fallen out of bed when he's woken up next to this monstrous 'fro. I told my friend Sandra (who couldn't help but gasp at my mop) to cut off all the damage and she ended cutting up about 3 1/2 inches off! It feels so much healthier and looks so much better now. I'm sure you would agree?

I hope you all had a great weekend!
