Ex-Miss Black USA 2010, the ever delicious looking & gloriously stylish Osas Ighodaro launched her foundation called Joyful Joy Foundation at the weekend. Sunday, October 27, 2013 to be more precise at the Avenue Suites on Tiamiyu Savage, Victoria Island, Lagos. It's that hotel with the breath taking view of the Bar Beach. 


Like you all already know, the foundation was created to immortalize Osas sister, Joy who while pregnant a few years ago had visited Nigeria, but alas had caught malaria, complications of which led to her untimely demise with her yet unborn baby. Such sad tale.

The foundation main thrust is to help bring awareness towards the good fight against Malaria. Celebrities, stars & socialites alike all came to the venue to show support for a good cause. The event began with the magnificent rendition of the National Anthem, by a would be national treasure in the person of the sonorously blessed Seyi Shay. That seem that set the tune for the event, comedy was by Elenu, who as usual gave a great account of himself. Included as part of the event was dance by Gongbeat Production. Thereafter the thoughtfully crafted Joyful Joy Foundation theme song , which was produced by Tee Y Mix was sweetly delivered by Ella. The day's deejay was DJ Xclusive. 

The Joyful Joy Foundation is all about spreading Joy and touching lives, one community at a time. 

Some of those seen at the event were the likes of Majid Michel, Banky W, Ice Prince Zamani, Seyi Shay, Toolz Oniru and many others.

Joyful Joy Foundation Launches in Lagos Nigeria! on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2013

 

Slightly beyond a year after launching in the United States, the Joyful Joy Foundation is set to launch here in Nigeria.

 

Founded in 2012 by Osas Ighodaro and Co-founder Sioux Greaux, Joyful Joy supports the push for a healthier and Malaria-free Africa.  Its alleviation strategy to positively impact communities involves offering programs focused on health and wellness, ending hunger, preventable disease and providing economic development opportunities.

 

The Joyful Joy Foundation is an NGO registered in both the US and Nigeria.  It was founded in honor of Joy Ighodaro, sister to Osas Ighodaro, who was with child and contracted malaria during a trip to Nigeria in 2006. At the time, there was little awareness on early diagnosis and tragically two lives vanished. Osas became very passionate and pro-active with elevating the platform of malaria eradication and dedicates much of her time and energy towards awareness initiatives and fundraising. 

A trip to Nigeria in 2011 opened Osas' eyes to the plight of those living in distressed communities.  It was then, along with Sioux Greaux that a pledge was made to create Joyful Joy, to honor the lives of those gone too soon and to Spread More Joy into the lives of those who need it most. No one should have to bury a loved one because of a disease that is treatable and preventable. None should have to go without food and the basic necessities to live a healthy life.

Joyful Joy Foundation is set to launch in Nigeria on Sunday, October 27,  2013 at the Avenue Suites, Tiamiyu Savage, Victoria Island Lagos.

This event will be hosted by Gbenro Ajibade from Tinsel and Vimbai Mutinhiri of Africa Magic's StarGist.  The event will also feature performances from Tee Y Mix, Former Project Fame contestant Ella, Irawo crooner Seyi Shay, Comedian Elenu, and an amazing African Dance by GongBeat Productions. Music will be provided by the prolific D.J Xclusive.

OSAS IGHODALO JOYFUL JOY FOUNDATION's HEALTH & WELLNESS WORKSHOP & PHOTO SHOOT

Not only is Osas Ighodaro, the ex-Miss Black USA 2010 beautiful, she's also got a good heart to finish up the package. The gorgeous one at the weekend, Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Campus Square, Lagos Island used her star quality to help focus attention on some health issues dear to her through her JJF Give-Back Experience Health & Wellness Workshop. It was a collaboration between the JJF & Society of Family Health.There was a special music performance by JJC.

According to what we have heard, the beautiful actress & ex-beauty queen established the Joyfuy Joy Foundation, named after her late sister Joy Ighodaro, who whilst pregnant had contracted Malaria fever while on a short visit to Nigeria. Sadly Joy & her unborn baby later died. The untimely loss apparently galvanized Osas to set up the foundation. 

The health and wellness workshop one of which held on Saturday, aims at offering discussions on health related topics by notable healthcare professionals and provide current health information, teach skills necessary to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors, and connect participants with appropriate resources. Participants will also receive wonderful parting gifts. Also free Malaria & HIV testing on site.

If more stars/celebs would take up such initiatives like this, what a wonderful world it just be.

Former Miss World 2001, the one & only from Nigeria to have carried such a title in the person of the gorgeous, the statuesque Agbani Darego a few days ago invited the gentlemen & ladies of the media to her flagship store located on the Island, Fola Osibo, Lekki 1, to be more precise. 

Many had heard long before the date that she's now into clothing making sort of or better put had started her own denim range of clothing, but had never had the opportunity to ask her in person what the idea behind the fashion range was all about.

Wednesday, September 17, 2013 from about 12 noon was the opportunity to meet with her and view the first collection by AD by Agbani Darego. Made up more of denims & a few more casual wears. 

The AD showroom is now open! From being a beauty queen, she's gone ahead to take the plunge into entrepreneurship. Her idea for a showroom was to make the products the centre of attention. One of the most alluring aspect of the showroom been the ''Denim bar'', which is an interactive space for customers & providing them with the intimate experience of the brand and its products.

According to the budding entrepreneur- ''Launching AD by Agbani Darego is a dream come true for me. Jeans are my loved go-to everyday look and it's a love I share with a lot of young girls & women for its comfort & simplicity. AD by Agbani Darego is a line that caters to the ease we require of our personal style & it has been a pleasure creating a line that's intuitive to our body, style & pocket needs. I am excited about it & I hope it will be well received''. 

The products range includes the different jeans trouser styles like the Bola- ''Trouser leg'' Boot cut style, Aisha- ''Classic Cut'', IFY- ''the Boyfriend Jeans & Nosa- skinny jeans. They also come in different washes. Apart from the jeans, we also saw the AD by Agbani Darego denim bag and a few other things. And all the things we saw were very very affordable, with the most expensive going for just slightly above #20,000. All the things are made abroad to the best standards you all can think about.

The former queen went on to say that, more things are in the pipeline and styles would be updated as often as possible. And it would include other things just as the brand continually evolves. A male line might also be in the offing, all things being equal. According to former queen, she's involved in the whole process of the manufacturing from concept to execution and even afterwards. 

Official launch of the AD showroom is upcoming in a few weeks. Those at the Press day included the likes of Glam Report's Bola Balogun, Elite Model Nigeria's Elohor Aisien, Genevieve Magazine's Ezinne Chinkata, ex-JARA's Jumai Shaba, 360 Nobs head honcho, Noble Igwe & a couple of others.

The very delectable Ex-Miss Nigeria, Miss Ene Maya-Lawani and incidentally the longest to have reigned on the throne for 6 years (2004-2010) is not resting on her oars at all business wise.

The statuesque ex-queen, has just sealed a deal with one of the best lifestyle stores in Abuja, the FCT to carry her hair accessories & turbans. 

She was in Abuja some days back to seal the deal with the Executives of the luxury store. Her contract with the luxury brand, means that The Library would carry Ene Maya Collection in all their stores or branches at any of their locations, making the collection available to more of the accessories connoisseurs.

According to the owners of the store, represented by their PR Agent, Miss Nuella- "We are extremely excited to have her products in our stores. This is Abuja; we love our head accessories here! And Ms Lawani understands and translates that beautifully."
